Hi I'm Maggie!

I have been a Therapist for 8 years. I received my Master's in Holistic Counseling Psychology at JFK University in San Jose in 2018. I am a Licensed Psychotherapist in the state of California LMFT #145986. Since I can remember, I have always had an insatiable curiosity about people and human nature. I have always enjoyed connecting with people in deep and meaningful ways. I am skilled at psychoanalytics; my aim is to really understand who you are, what your life experience has been, and noticing subtle patterns. I am a "big picture” thinker and believe things make sense when taken into the whole context. I tend to take a “bottom-up” / “inside-out" approach. I also consider myself an empathetic, curious, and open-minded person. I would be honored to work alongside you on your journey towards continued healing, growth, learning, and more :)

FAQ:

Q: What is psychotherapy and what is a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT)? A: Psychotherapy is a therapeutic approach that helps individuals address their mental and emotional challenges. A Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is a trained professional who provides therapy to individuals, couples, and families.

Q: Do you offer in person therapy? A: At this time, I only offer Telehealth.

Q: Can you see clients out of state? A: At this time, I am only licensed to practice in the state of California and can therefore only see clients currently located in the state of California.

Q: What modalities of therapy do you use? A: I am very "eclectic" in the way I practice. I like to ask a lot of questions at the beginning. I like to know what clients are coming to me for (maybe they don't even know and it's my job to help them figure out what it is they are struggling with). I like to know what their goals are. Then, I ask questions and use assessment tools to form a picture. I look at things from many lenses, particularly attachment and trauma lenses as ways to heal mind, body, spirit, and soul. I like to help people get back in touch with who they are and re-discover joy in their lives. I might weave in some psychoeducation, techniques from IFS, Hakomi, and more while you are sharing and processing your inner thoughts and feelings in what is called classic "talk therapy.” Or we may begin with EMDR therapy (Trained through Thrive Training EMDRIA Accredited).

Q: What is EMDR Therapy? A: EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing. EMDR helps to provide a safe and effective container for people to talk and process trauma from one's past. When a traumatic or intense event occurs, it can get stuck. EMDR stimulates the information and allows the brain to reprocess the experience. EMDR also targets core beliefs about oneself. How we feel about ourselves impacts how we show up in the world and impacts all of our relationships. When we heal core beliefs about ourselves, we show up differently in the world (with more ease and peace) and this has a domino effect on our relationships.
